Kenya, a country in East Africa is experiencing heavy downpour which has taken the lives of many Kenyan while collapsing many building leaving others out in the wet and cold night.

An incident where Kijabe dam broke, has killed many people along the busy Mai Mahiu road which is known for its meandering and breath-taking view of Mt. Longonot. Many passengers died as the vehicles they were travelling in were swept away. Residents of Mai Mahiu village where also swept by the gushing water which left nothing behind; the livestock’s and houses were buried in the process.

The Kenyan president H.E Dr. William Ruto has embarked on a journey to condole with the mourners and visiting many people who are currently hosted by public institutions such as schools and churches. H.E Ruto has assured the community of the government relief support which include food, beddings and medical care.

This is most been experienced in Nairobi, the central region and the rift valley while the coastal region remains warm, but not out of the aftermath as we expect the Indian Ocean to swell because of the huge rains.

As the situation in Kenya is predicted to become worse, schools have been closed indefinitely and many roads closed by KENHA and some companies forced to close down while some workers are advised to work from home. Of great concern is the health of the community as we speculate a rise in water borne diseases and other water associated calamities such as a rise in mosquitos which spread malaria.

We advise all the Kenyan to stay safe and move to higher ground as some central areas has started to experience landslides; Kiganjo-Murang’a landslide kills more than 5 people ,Kigumo Kangari landslide has swept an acre of tea bushes among others.

Pedestrians has to find their path along the busy Thika Super highway as most commercial vehicles bus stages are flooded with water. Recently the water rose too high which made the highway to be closed along Kahawa- Kenyatta University route.

Prestigious tourist destinations such as Maasai Mara where we experience the 8th wonder of the world (wildlife migration) is also inaccessible and the tourists who had visited some hotels had to be airlifted to safe places.

Kenya is a top tourist destination and the travel advisory released by the USA and UK government against travel due to the heavy rains.
